Dontech manufactures a variety of dichroic filters
for the reflection of near infrared (NIR) radiation while transmitting
high levels of primary visible components from electronic displays
(e.g. LCDs). These dichroic filters are commonly referred to as
"hot mirrors". Hot mirrors are complicated and relatively
thick dielectric stacks, which create an interference filter that
reflects deep red and near IR wavelengths.
Common applications include night vision compatibility
for a full color LCD per MIL-STD-3009. For example the transmission
curve for CN303-11 transmits over 88% of an LCD’s red, green,
blue (RGB) components while reflecting over 99% of the energy
from 630 to 930 nm.
Dontech application engineers can recommend
the hot mirror best suited for your application. For additional
information on night vision compatibility, please contact
a Dontech applications engineer, or request that a hard copy of
the Windows Design Guide be sent to you.
