Thick Film Optical Coatings
• Hard Coatings
• Antiglare Coatings
• Antifog Coatings
Hard
coatings improve durability, and diffusion antireflective coatings
(i.e., antiglare coatings) control surface reflections of optical
substrates.
Thick film coatings include hard coatings, hydrophilic
(antifog), and diffusion antireflection hard coatings (antiglare).
Hard coatings are typically used to significantly improve the durability
of acrylic and polycarbonate substrates. Dontech has several families
of thick film coatings for plastic substrates. They are designed
to satisfy a range of performance requirements for plastic substrates.
All of the coatings are not necessarily appropriate for all substrates
and applications. Careful selection of the coatings is required
to achieve the desired results. Custom coatings and specially formulated
permutations of existing systems are available upon request.
8 Series - UV cured, moderate scratch and abrasion resistance, high transmittance, very good optics
9 Series - UV cured, high scratch and abrasion resistance, high transmittance, very good optics
10 Series - Thermally cured, very high scratch and abrasion resistance, high transmittance, fair optics (i.e., will highlight flaws in base material)
11 Series - UV cured, good scratch and abrasion resistance, high transmittance, very good optics
Dontech application engineers can recommend the
thick film coating best suited for your application. For additional
information on thick film coatings, please contact
a Dontech applications engineer, or request that a hard copy of
the Windows Design Guide be sent to you.
